Ep. 81: Lent: Postpartum Edition

In this episode, I explored what a thoughtful response might look like to two seemingly competing ideas:

1) Lent is a time for penitence, for giving up or adding in tough things, to detach ourselves from the things of this world and grow in relationship with the Lord.

2) Postpartum comes with a lot of built-in challenges. Is it a good idea to invite more difficulties?

Aside from 'phoning it in,' which isn't how you or I want to show up for ourselves, our families, or before God, might it be better to simply accept the hard stuff as it comes?

Or...

and...

Could we also discern adding or taking something away (a good old-fashioned Lenten resolution), with the specific intention of opening ourselves to the grace and strength He desires to give us? And what if that grace and strength helps us deal better with the unavoidably hard parts of postpartum?

Hey Lady!

What if you could love who you become during postpartum? What if postpartum wasn't a default time, but a window of opportunity, an experience you could enter into on purpose? Here, you'll find articles I've written for various outlets, exploring the answers to these questions.

Let the posts come to you.
