Ep 115 How to Accept Help, Decline "Help," and Be Helpful

1 min read

Pure gold. That's what this episode represents, lady. I asked my aunt Marilyn, a long-time listener of the podcast and 5-time mom plus bona fide grandma tribe member twice over, to share her best tips and tricks for accepting help, declining unhelpful help, and being helpful (for the supportive moms, grandma tribe members, friends, and sisters out there).

She's supported her daughter and her daughter-in-law during their early postpartum days and she lays it all out there for new moms AND for the relatives and grandma tribe members who want nothing more than to be supportive but sometimes wonder just what that looks like, especially if they were unsupported during their own postpartum/s. You're going to especially love her ideas for graciously ushering visitors to the door when Mom is getting tired, and for clearly, kindly responding to offers of help that would be more stressful than helpful.

Listen and then share this episode far and wide, lady. It's a treat.

Hey Lady!

What if you could love who you become during postpartum? What if postpartum wasn't a default time, but a window of opportunity, an experience you could enter into on purpose? Here, you'll find articles I've written for various outlets, exploring the answers to these questions.

Let the posts come to you.
